Etowah runners shine at Albertville track and field meet

The Etowah High boys track and field team won four events and finished second in five at a meet at Albertville High School on April 7.
The Blue Devils finished in third place overall, while the Sardis boys and girls came in fifth and sixth, respectively. The Lions had one first-place showing, four second-place finishes and three third-place efforts.
Tyrell Boley won two events for Etowah – the 100-meter dash (11.55) and the 200-meter dash (23.15). He also was part of the Blue Devils’ first-place 4×100-meter relay team (44.21) along with Emaje Graves, Deundrea Williams and Malik Wilson.
Also taking first place was Etowah 4×400-meter relay team of Lester Phillips, Evan Jones, Malik Wilson and Deaundrea Williams (3:46.86).

In addition, Sardis’ Jarrod Smith won the boys shot put with a toss of 45-09.50.
Taking second place for the Blue Devils were Deundrea Williams in the boys 200-meter dash (23.49), Malik Wilson in the boys high jump (J5-10.00), Zanya McKenzie in the girls shot put (30-06.00) and Trevon Caldwell in the boys long jump (20-02.00) and triple jump (38-10.50).
Second-place finishers for Sardis were Emma Schaffer in the girls triple jump (31-08.50), Tristan Baker in the boys 100-meter dash (11.57), Luke Nelson in the boys javelin (155-00) and the boys 4×100-meter relay team of Kadin Benefield, Corey Kelley, Josh Maynard and Tristan Baker (46.65).
The Lions took third pace in three events – Emma Schaffer in the girls long jump (14-02.50), Josh Maynard in the boys 300-meter hurdles (45.62) and Jarrod Smith in the boys javelin (144-05).
