Lipscomb airs out Woodville in Conquerors’ region win

Caiden Lipscomb finished with 427 yards of total offense and six touchdowns as Coosa Christian clinched the third playoff seed in Class 1A, Region 7 with a 47-20 victory over rival Woodville last Friday (Oct. 26).

Lipscomb was 18 for 31 in passing for 402 yards and five touchdowns and rushed four times for 25 yards and another score as the visiting Conquerors (5-3, 3-2) rallied from a 14-point deficit to take a 41-14 lead at halftime.
Coosa totaled 466 total yards while holding the Panthers (3-5, 2-3) to 188, including only 19 yards on the ground.
Evan Delp was Lipscomb’s primary receiver with seven catches for 197 yards and three TDs. Caleb Cates had four receptions for 80 yards, while Carsten Lipscomb caught three passes for 45 yards.
With the Conquerors trailing 14-0 midway through the first quarter, Coosa scored touchdowns on its next six possessions to put the game out of reach.
Dartavious Britton, who finished with 66 yards on 14 carries, began the Conquerors’ scoring binge with a pair of touchdowns – the first a three-yard run at 4:46 of the first quarter and the second a 64-yard TD pass from Caiden Lipscomb at the 9:09 mark of the second period.
That scoring pass was the first of five for Lipscomb during the second quarter. He then threw scoring passes of 30, 45 and 13 yards to Delp and a 20-yarder to Carston Lipscomb for the 27-point lead at intermission.
Woodville pulled within 41-20 with a touchdown at 8:33 of the third quarter, but Caiden Lipscomb’s 11-yard TD run with 4:44 left in the game iced the victory.
Defensively for Coosa, Reece Myrick had 11 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Karter Roberts finished with 13 tackles, followed by Caiden Lipscomb with 11 and Trevor Horne with seven and Conner Belyeu with five. Horne also had an interception.
The Conquerors close out region play this Friday (Oct. 26) at home against Valley Head.
Coosa Christian hosts Valley Head next week to wrap up region play.
