Without the benefit of a full scrimmage or a jamboree, Coosa Christian went into last week’s game against Collinsville having not really participated in any real game action.

The result? A 38-13 loss.

However, coach Van Owens hopes that experience will help this week when Class 1A, Region 7 foe Donoho visits.

“With the low numbers we have, it’s hard to have a full scrimmage,” Owens said. “We didn’t want to risk an injury in a jamboree, so for the most part, the Collinsville game was the first time a lot of the kids had even hit anyone this year.”

It also showed the coa-ches what they need to concentrate on.

“Really, it was just the basics and the jitters of the new season,” Owens said. “They didn’t do some of the fundamental stuff. Nothing that can’t be corrected.”

Donoho comes in with a balanced offensive attack. The Falcons’ spead offense features a quarterback in Marshall Ghee who can throw well and a running back in Justin Foster who can pound through the line.

“(Ghee) is a tall kid who can see over the linemen and he throws well,” Owens said. “And (Foster) is a big kid. ”
