Sardis wins Lake Guntersville Invitational

With five gold medal performances, including three from Torin Bright, the Sardis boys won the Lake Guntersville Invitational track and field meet last Saturday (Apr. 17).
Out of 16 teams, the Lions totaled 87 points, one more point than runner-up Albertville.
Bright finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.96), the 300-meter hurdles (42.07) and the long jump (20-05.50). Also placing first were Jake Alewine in the high jump (5-10.00) and Brody Lowe in the shot put (43-07.50). Lowe (pictured above) on a pair of second-place silver, one in the discus (127-02) and another in the javelin (141-04).
The Sardis boys 4×800-meter relay team of Jonathan Lusk, Jaxon Snead, Zion Delgado and Blade Devin took third place with a time of 9:14.29.
The Sardis girls finished sixth out of 18 teams. Abby Burns came in first in the long jump (15-11.50) and second in the triple jump (35-00.50). Also taking first place was the girls 4×100-meter relay team of Abby Rogers, Kimberly Powell, Amaya Kittle, and Lily Underwood (55.57).
Earning the silver were Lily Underwood in the 100-meter dash (13.55) and the shot put (27-10.50) and Abby Rodgers in the 300-meter hurdles (52.42).
