Eddie Montgomery to headline Mayor’s Memorial Day Bash

Tickets are on sale for The Mayor’s Memorial Day Bash in Gadsden, featuring Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry. The event is set for Saturday, May 27 at the Mort Glosser Amphitheatre in downtown Gadsden.

“I wanted to have an event to honor our heroes, and I also wanted everyone to have some fun as we start the long holiday weekend,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford. “The historic amphitheater is a great location because it is large enough to host, but intimate enough for a one-of-a-kind experience. Plus, it’s all steps away from the beautiful Coosa River.”

While Montgomery is the featured artist, the event will be a day of fun with a number of local food trucks on site and beverage stations offering a variety of refreshments for attendees to enjoy. This Memorial Day celebration is designed to be the first of an annual event in Gadsden to help residents and visitors kick off the summer season.

According to a press release from the City of Gadsden, Ford took office last November with a “vision of embracing Gadsden’s natural setting by offering a variety of entertainment experiences throughout the year, including returning the famed Riverfest event to its former glory in future years.”

Riverfest was a hallmark weekend-long summer festival that was held on the banks of the Coosa River annually for 27 years until being discontinued in 2014.

Gates for The Mayor’s Memorial Day Bash open at 4 p.m., and local artists DJ Chad Ellis of Ellis Entertainment, Jenn and Mike of New Delusions, and Courtney Linam and Still Broke Band will be performing throughout the evening. The national anthem will be performed by Amelia Tucker. As an added bonus, attendees will be able to register for a chance to meet Eddie Montgomery and the band before the show.
