Patriots come up short against Southeastern

West End fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in Class 2A, Region 6 play with a 22-6 loss to Southeastern on Sept. 15 in Walnut Grove.
Following Marty Wooten’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Triston Chaney that drew the Patriots within 8-6 in the closing seconds of the first half, the Mustangs (2-1, 2-0) kept the hosts off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Southeastern’s Jarrod Williams scored a pair of touchdown runs in the third quarter to salt the game away.
Wooten was 3 for 11 in passing for 40 yards. Chaney had two receptions.
Rock Sainsbury finished with nine tackles, followed by Josh Carroll with seven and Chaney and Wooten with five each.
The Patriots continue region play at Gaston on Friday, Sept. 22.
