In its ongoing commitment to help prevent childhood obesity, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is continuing its Be Healthy School Grant Program.
For the 2024 -2025 school year, Blue Cross will make available $300,000 and award grants up to $10,000 to 30 schools across the state that enroll students in grades K through 12. Since 2012, Blue Cross has awarded more than $2.9 million dollars in 320 Be Healthy School Grants statewide, impacting over 151,600 students.
“We are proud to make this grant opportunity available for schools across the state,” said Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Community Relations Manager Tim King. “This program provides schools additional funding for the resources needed to help teach students healthy lifestyle habits that will hopefully last a lifetime.”
The grants are earmarked for the implementation of school-based health and wellness programs that emphasize increased exercise and nutrition education involvement during the school year. Applications may be completed at community.bcbsal.org/what-we-do/be-healthy-school-grants. Deadline to apply is Friday, July 19. Each selected school will receive a grant of up to $10,000 along with a Blue Cross Be Healthy School banner.
