Jacksonville State University’s enrollment has reached a new record for the sixth consecutive year, with 10,433 students enrolled for the fall 2026 semester.
The university’s enrollment has increased for eight consecutive years, growing from 8,479 students in fall 2018 to this year’s record enrollment.
This fall’s enrollment is up 94 students from last year’s record of 10,339. The university also saw a notable increase in first-time freshmen, with 1,813 enrolled this fall — 172 more than in fall 2025, an increase of about 10.5%.
Undergraduate enrollment stands at 9,090 students, while 1,343 graduate students are enrolled.
The university surpassed 10,000 students for the first time last fall.
The continued enrollment growth comes as Jax State expands its academic offerings and campus facilities. This fall, the university welcomed its first students in two new programs: a Bachelor of Science in Aviation and a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.
Jax State also opened West Village this fall, adding more than 700 beds to its on-campus housing capacity.
“While we are proud to see Jax State continue to grow, our focus remains on providing the personal connections, opportunities and sense of community that make this university special,” Jax State President Dr. Don C. Killingsworth Jr. said. “Our students remain at the center of everything we do.”
Dr. Jessica Wiggins, vice president for enrollment management, said the continued growth reflects students’ interest in the university’s academic programs and campus community.
“Eight consecutive years of growth demonstrate that students continue to see Jax State as that place,” Wiggins said.
Applications are open for the spring 2027 and fall 2027 semesters.
