It’s unofficial, but this First Friday in September is likely to feel like the First Friday of fall in Downtown Gadsden.

Shops will be open late and restaurants will be ready to serve as visitors take to the streets of downtown Gadsden to look at classic cars, listen to the music and watch – or maybe even join – the line dancers at the intersection of Sixth and Broad. In addition, Gadsden has art galleries to explore and food vendors in the 400 block.  Starting around 4:30 p.m., Broad Street will be closed from 1st Street to 7th Street. First Friday is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Be sure to look for the Tesla vehicle and the Energizers from Alabama Power, making a special appearance in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Gadsden Steam Plant.

Mary Wood of Downtown Gadsden Inc. said the lineup of entertainment this month is incredible.

One Ton Tomato will be performing at 5th and Broad, 2 BLU and the Lucky Stiffs at BB&T, Lindsey Hinkle at 3rd and Broad and Southern Xposures at 2nd and Broad.

As the events on Broad Street come to a close, head over to the free Summer Concert Series at the Mort Glosser Amphitheater with the John Sutton Band from 9 p.m.-11p.m.
