Sardis puts its perfect season record on the line tonight (Sept. 13) against archrival and Class 4A, Region 6 foe Crossville, which is dealing with yet another new head coach.
Brian Clowdis came over from Gaylesville late in the offseason, becoming the Lions’ seventh coach since Chris Garmon left after the 2002 season.
Crossville, of course, has struggled under the merry-go-round of coaches, managing a 36-66 record in the 10 seasons before Clowdis took over. Crossville has experienced only one winning season since 2004. Sardis has beaten Crossville six consecutive times
Clowdis appears to bring stability, however, as he coached at Gaylesville for 12 seasons.
Meanwhile, Sardis is flourishing under Gene Hill, making the postseason in both of Hill’s seasons thus far and appears to be headed toward a third.
In 2012, Sardis was 6-1 before suffering a four-game losing streak to end the year.
Last week against Locust Fork, Braun Pee finished with 88 rushing yards on 10 carries, while Jesse Hubbard rushed for 54 yards on six carries. Keenan Lewis ran 13 times for 45 yards.
Will Scott completed 11-of-17 passes for 135 yards, while Brett Rains caught eight passes for 82 yards.
