Richard Evans of Black Creek Productions brought swordsmen, a makeup artist, independent filmmakers and a stunt crew from Action Stunt Camp to Convention Hall on March 22 for Gadsden Fund a Film Fest, an effort to promote and raise money for filmmaking in Gadsden.
The highlight of the event was a burning man stunt. A crew worked from 12 to 3 p.m. getting ready for the stunt, which involved setting stuntman Conley Wilson on fire and dragging him behind a car in the parking lot beside Convention Hall.
Independent director Jack Bennett said the biggest concern of the stunt was making sure Wilson was properly suited and protected so that he would not breath in flames. Wilson was dressed in a burn suit with layers of clothing over it, then gas-soaked clothes were attached to the outer layer and Wilson was set ablaze.
