The Gadsden Music Club met recently at the Music Center at the Temple Beth Israel. President Carol Larkins welcomed members and guests. Chaplain Brenda Emery gave the invocation. Stacey Garmon led the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and the singing of the National Anthem. Brenda Emery led the Federation Hymn, Collect and the Hymn of the Month, “Rejoice You Pure in Heart.” Sharron Yancy accompanied on the piano.
Program Chairman Stacey Garmon introduced the Program of Chamber Music performed by an ensemble from the Etowah Youth Orchestra directed by Mike Gagliardo. Corey Butts, sophomore, Ashville High School performed “Etude for Trumpet.” Andrew Panik, junior, Gadsden City High School played “Nocturne in B Flat” by Billy Joel. Elliot Russo performed his own composition, “Improvisation for Drum Kit.” Chloe Smith, junior, Oxford Christian Academy, performed “Czardas” by Monti on the violin. Director Gagliardo told of the state and national honors these talented students had achieved.
Sharron Yancy gave a poetry moment. President Larkins welcomed Mike Gagliardo as a new Gadsden Music Club member. The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the official National Federation of Music Clubs benediction, “The Gift of Song.” The Gadsden Music Club is a member of the Alabama and National Federation of Music Clubs.
