GSCC to host Annual Charity Showcase

Gadsden State Community College will host the 20th Annual Charity Showcase Thursday, November 6 and the 14th Annual Miss Gadsden State Community College Pageant Friday, November 7 at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden.

The Charity Showcase and Silent Auction has become a holiday tradition thanks to the wonderful community support and participation.

Previously more than $70,000 has been presented to the Salvation Army and again this year all proceeds will go to benefit this organization in their effort to help the less fortunate with food, clothing, and toys during the holiday season.

The Showcase will feature continuous entertainment onstage from a variety of artists including the Gadsden State singers, Southern Belle dancers, the reigning Miss Gadsden State Victoria Cleveland and contestants from the Miss Gadsden State Pageant. Additional entertainment will be provided by students from the Episcopal Day School and Eura Brown.

During the Showcase attendees can enjoy the onstage entertainment or browse the many silent auction items located in the lobby. There will be a vast number of items donated by area merchants, Gadsden State employees, and students.

The Miss Gadsden State Pageant held on Friday, is a preliminary for the Miss Alabama Pageant. The contestants will participate in the evening’s entertainment, which will feature the singers directed by J.T. Harrell and dancers directed/choreographed by Kay Smith-Foster. The reigning Miss Gadsden State will crown the winner.

There is no admission charge for either event and the public is encouraged to enjoy both nights of family friendly entertainment and great fun. All proceeds from the silent auction will be presented to the Salvation Army.

For more information contact Dr. Judy Hill at 256-549-8329 or [email protected] or Kay Smith-Foster at 256-549-8224 or [email protected].
