The Gadsden State Community College Fine Arts Department invites everyone to enjoy an evening filled with a variety of entertainment Thursday, April 16. Music, vocal, and dance students will showcase their talents onstage while art students will display their talents in the lobby of Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center. The program will begin at 6 p.m. and admission is free. The entertainment is appropriate for all ages and will include selections from the Show Band, Singers, and the Southern Belle Dancers.
The A Cappella Choir and Gadsden State Singers, under the direction of J.T. Harrell, will perform spiritual as well as contemporary songs. The singers will culminate their spring performance tour with feature numbers that have been audience favorites. They have performed over 45 shows this year. The Show Band, under the direction of Matt Leder, will perform a variety of music styles including jazz, contemporary, and rock-and-roll. Auditions for interested band students will be held on April 21. Leder expressed specific needs for brass, bass players and a sound technician. The Southern Belle Dancers will perform a variety of dances including popular hits and some favorite tunes with the Show Band. They are choreographed and directed by Kay Smith-Foster. These dancers have represented Gadsden State in college performances and community functions since 1976. This will be their final performance.
