After finishing as state runner-up in the recent Alabama Community College Conference Tournament, Gadsden State came away with two of the conference’s top postseason awards.
Sophomore guard Kenric McCants was named ACCC North Division Player of the Year, while Todd Ginn was selected as ACCC North Coach of the Year.
A 2010 Gadsden City High graduate, McCants led the Cardinals in scoring at 17 points per game and finished tops in the division in assists with a 4.94 average. He also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals. McCants also shot 30 percent from the three-point line.
Ginn led the 2012-13 Cardinals to a 28-8 record this year, including a 9-3 mark in conference play.
Ginn is 107-76 in his six seasons at Gadsden State. Three of his teams won 20 or more games, and his 2010-11 squad also finished as state runner-up.
In addition, McCants, Zach Owens and Matt Margavio made the All-ACCC Tournament team.
McCants was named to both the All-Region 22 and All-North Division first team, while Margavio and Terrence Lee were selected to the All-North second team.
