“Christmas on the Coosa” will be held on December 8 at the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the door with an opportunity to donate.

Two gospel groups will perform at the “Christmas on the Coosa” concert. Gadsden duo Wilburn and Wilburn and Atlanta’s LeFevre Quartet. The concert is meant to be “cozy,” with hot coffee and spiced apple cider being served to the audience.

The LeFevre name has been around since 1921, with the original LeFevre Trio. In the 1970s, the band retired. In the 80s and 90s, a new band called Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart became popular. The Lefevre Quartet was formed in the mid-2000s and quickly began winning awards. The quartet is formed of Mike LeFevre, Jordan LeFevre, Jeremy Peace, Trent Adams and Josh Townsend.

Wilburn and Wilburn is a father, Jonathon, and son, Jordan, local duo that performs gospel music. The concert coincides with the release of Wilburn and Wilburn’s first Christmas album. The album “Simply Christmas” features 10 of the duo’s favorite Chistmas songs with an acoustic sound, including “Joy to the World,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” “Mary Did You Know” and “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.”

The band hopes the music will take“listeners back to a simpler time when holidays represented the birth of a Savior and times of memory making with friends and family.”

“We wanted to bring the people an album with Christmas songs that take us to a more simple time that featured a slower pace of life and music,” said Jonathon Wilburn. “We also wanted to present the simple reason for the season: Jesus!”

“I have always enjoyed Christmas music but this album reignited my love for it,” said Jordan Wilburn. “The arrangements are simple, the music is simple and the message is simple. That is our reason for naming the CD ‘Simply Christmas’.”
