Conquerors steamroll Valley Head, 35-0

In a battle of Class 1A Region 7 rivals, Coosa Christian pulled out a 35-0 victory over Valley Head on Sept. 22.
It was the seventh-ranked Conquerors (4-1, 3-0) fourth straight win and third consecutive shutout.
Coosa scored the first touchdown of the game at the 9:03 mark in the first quarter when quarterback John David Justus scampered in from two yards out. The PAT was good by Jadan Burns, and it was 7-0.
Kanon Wilson scored Coosa’s second touchdown on a 1-yard run with 1:21 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was good, making the score 15-0.
Coosa’s Grayson Malone intercepted Valley Head’s Tytan Blevins with 12 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed, making the score 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Wilson scored again, this time on a 22-yard run with 7:16 left on the clock. Burns’ kick was good, making the halftime score 28-0.
Justus threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Eli Motes for the game’s final points with 11:36 left in the fourth quarter. Burns’ kick was good, giving Coosa a 35-0 victory.
The Conquerors totaled 334 yards on offense while holding Valley Head (1-3, 0-2) to 140. The Coosa defense caused five turnovers, including a pair of interceptions by Grayson Malone, with one of those picks returned for a touchdown.
Eli Motes finished with 19 tackles, including three for a loss, and recovered a fumble. Drake Dupree had 13 stops, followed by Josh Hester with 11, Cade Mickler with 10, Zayden Franklin with seven and Malone with six.
For Valley Head, Tytan Blevins carried 21 times for 61 yards, while Nate Bain ran 12 times for 28 yards.
Coosa Christian hosts Heritage Academy of Mississippi on Sept. 29.
