Gadsden State at 11-4 on the season

Gadsden State improved to 11-4 with a 73-61 victory over the Talladega College junior varsity on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Jamarkus Alexander paced the Cardinals with 14 points, followed by Shannon Jones with nine, and Mekhi Fitts and Cortlyn Clark (pictured above) with eight each. Fitts pulled down 12 rebounds, while Clark cleared five. Alexander and Javion Belle-McCrary each had four assists.

Cristian Willis scored a game-high 24 points to lead Gadsden State past Wallace State-Selma, 78-73, on Monday. Nov. 27 at Beck Gymnasium. Mekhi Fitts finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Javion Belle-McCrary and Markavious Atkinson each scored 10 points. Shannon Jones chipped in seven points and 11 assists.

Six players scored in double figures in Gadsden State’s 122-90 win over Tennessee Valley Community College at the Wallace State Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hanceville.
Demarreon Baldwin paced the Cardinals with 16 points, followed by Mehki Fitts with 13 and Shannon Jones, Javion Belle-McCrary and Bralyn Mayfield with 12 each and Micheal Dale with 10. Fitts pulled down eight rebounds, while Ja’Lynn Lacey and Cortlyn Clark each grabbed seven. Cristian Willis and Jamarkus Alexander both had five assists, while Alexander came up with four steals.

Motlow State edged Gadsden State, 90-88, at the Wallace State Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hanceville. Shannon Jones paced the Cardinals with 20 points, while Cristian Willis and Javion Belle-McCrary each scored 18. Mekhi Fitts contributed a double-double of 167 points and 15 rebounds.
