Gadsden Woman’s Club awards scholarship

Martha Elrod, President, welcomed the members and guests to the meeting. Mona Wallace gave the devotional and introduced Lexi Pierce, a student at Southside High School, who sang a beautiful inspirational song.

Stephanie Birchmore, First Vice President, introduced the scholarship committee members Donna Keeler, Claudia Jermyn, Gail Spotnitz and Marie Whitaker. The 2014 Charlotte Chrisman Cox Memorial Scholarship recipient was Hope Smith, daughter of Kristy and Ricky Smith, who is a senior at Southside High School. Hope will attend Jacksonville State University in the fall. 

The annual spring fashion show was presented by Pat Probyn of the “The Willow Tree”.  Our beautiful Woman’s Club members Tammy Couch, Annette Burns, Wanda Dyer, Beverly Linam and Candie Woodall modeled with Donna Keeler as MC.  

Donna Keeler discussed plans for our next luncheon meeting on May 27th at 12:00. Dress will be casual and Bobbie Walden will preside over the installation of the 2014-2015 officers.

Amber Phillips, Southern Tea Chairman, discussed plans for Tea this Saturday, April 26th at the Woman’s Club from noon till 2:00 p.m. Six-time GMA Dove Award winner Candy Christmas is the special guest.  

Each month the Woman’s Club members make a donation to a worthy charity. This month the contributions went to Candy Christmas and her charity the Jefferson Street Bridge in Nashville. Each week they feed and clothe the poor and homeless and have a church service under the bridge.
