Glencoe, Sardis notch wins

Glencoe opened its season on Sept. 1 with a 24-20 victory over Weaver. The Yellow Jackets open their Class 3A Region 6 portion of their scheduled this Friday (Sept. 8) at Hokes Bluff.

Sardis opened a season 2-0 for the first time in 10 years following the Lions’ 34-14 victory over New Hope on Sept. 1 in Sardis City.
For Sardis, Brian Chapman was 20 for 32 in passing for 241 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 50 yards and two scores.
Blaze Gerhart had six receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Conner Lowery caught four passes for 65 yards and Landon Carrol four for 58 yards and a TD. Carson Gillilan added three receptions for 26 yards.
Gerhart led the way on the ground with 60 yards on 12 carries. Levi Martin rushed eight times for 77 yards.
Sardis has an open date this week before opening Class 4A Region play on Sept. 15 at Arab.
