Auburn Week 6 Review

Auburn lost a home series to South Carolina last weekend. The Tigers defeated the Gamecocks, 4-2, in the first game but lost the next two games by one run each. AU dropped to 23-19 overall and 7-11 in conference play. The Tigers travel to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas this weekend.

Alabama Week 6 Review

The Crimson Tide won two of three games against rival Tennessee in Knoxville. Alabama won the first game, 8-5, and then squeaked by the Volunteers, 7-6, in the second. In the finale, Tennessee outfielder Vincent Jackson hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth to prevent the sweep for the Volunteers. After the 10-9 loss, Alabama dropped to 28-13 overall and 12-6 in league play. The Crimson Tide travels to Columbia this weekend to take on South Carolina.

Week 7 Previews and Predictions

Thursday, April 24 – Sunday, April 27

Auburn at Arkansas. At 7-11 in the SEC, Auburn is dangerously close to missing the SEC Tournament. The bottom two teams in the league are ineligible for postseason play, and right now Auburn and Tennessee are one game ahead of Missouri. Arkansas is in good shape for the SEC Tournament but the Razorbacks still need wins to improve their NCAA resume. Series Prediction: Arkansas 2, Auburn 1.

Missouri at Florida. This is a matchup between arguably the best and worst teams in the SEC this season. A Florida sweep of Missouri would seriously damage the Tigers’ chances of making the SEC Tournament. Series Prediction: Florida 3, Missouri 0.

Ole Miss at Kentucky. Only a game separates the Rebels and the Wildcats, and both teams have played well throughout the season. Statistically, Ole Miss is one of the best teams in the country, although its conference record might suggest otherwise. An SEC West title is still possible for the Rebels but they cannot afford many more losses. Series Prediction: Ole Miss 2, Kentucky 1.

Tennessee at LSU. The Tigers picked up a huge series win on the road over Ole Miss last weekend. LSU still has a chance to win the SEC West, especially with a series against Alabama looming. The Volunteers lost two of three game to Alabama, and they need at least one win over LSU this weekend. Series Prediction: LSU 3, Tennessee 0.

Georgia at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt lost its last series to Arkansas, and the Commodores desperately need a series win over the struggling Bulldogs. Georgia was swept by Florida last weekend, and the Dawgs are in jeopardy of missing the SEC Tournament if they suffer the same fate against Vanderbilt. Series Prediction: Vanderbilt 3, Georgia 0.

Texas A&M at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs slowly are starting to resemble the team that made it to Omaha a season ago. A road sweep at Missouri was much needed for Mississippi State, who also could sweep the Aggies this weekend. Series Prediction; Mississippi State 3, Texas A&M 0.

Series of the Week

Alabama at South Carolina. Alabama has been in first place in the SEC West for most of the season, but it might be difficult for the Crimson Tide to hold onto that position over the next few weeks. UA finishes the year with South Carolina, LSU, Florida and Mississippi State. South Carolina is playing as well as anyone in the league, and the Gamecocks are one of the best home teams in the SEC. Series Prediction: South Carolina 2, Alabama 1.
