Jackets, Patriots, Conquerors, Bulldogs fall

The Class 3A, No. 2 Piedmont Bulldogs posted a 49-7 victory against Region 5 rival Glencoe last Friday.

Glencoe  scored its lone touchdown on Thomas Ozmint’s 13-yard run with 9:30 remaining in the game.

The Yellow Jackets (1-2, 1-1) continue region play on Friday against White Plains at home. 

Coosa Christian fell to seventh-ranked Cedar Bluff, 62-21, in a Class 1A, Region 7 game last Friday at Cedar Bluff. 

The Tigers (3-0, 2-0) led 42-0 at halftime before the Conquerors (0-3, 0-2) got on the board with three touchdown runs of 1, 83 and 11 yards from Austin Mills. 

Mills finished with 266 yards on 27 carries. Brandon Mills ran 19 times for 60 yards.

Austin Mills, Brandon Mills and Seth Williamson each had six tackles. 

Coosa Christian hosts Spring Garden on Friday in more region action.

No. 4 Fyffe rolled up rushing 344 yards in a 42-6 defeat of West End last Friday in Class 2A, Region 7 action in Walnut Grove.

West End fell to 0-3 and 0-3 in Region 7.

The Patriots (0-3, 0-2) avoided the shutout on Levi Weems’ 10-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Goodwin with 3:10 left in the game.

For West End, Chase Blanton rushed 20 times for 42 yards. Weems completed 5-of-12 passes for 83 yards. 

West End visits Westbrook Christian on Friday in more region action.

Section held off a fourth-quarter charge from Gaston to down the host Bulldogs, 21-14, in a Class 2A, Region 7 game last Friday. 

Section built a 21-0 lead after three quarters.

Gaston (0-3, 0-2) hosts No. 10 North Sand Mountain on Friday in another region game.
