Lady Patriots finish runner-up at Kudzu Invitational

The West End girls cross country team placed three runners in the top 10 and five in the top 15 out of 67 participants on the way to a runner-up finish at the Kudzu Invitational 5K on Saturday, Sept. 30 in Bremen.
Paten Battles paced the Lady Patriots with a second-place time of 20:23.44. Kaylee Tarpley came in fifth at 21:36.44, while Karlee Tarpley clocked in 10th at 22:32.35.
Carolina Rainey (22:52.49) and Kennedi Nix (22:57.28) finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
Also helping West End’s cause were Jada Wright (26:45.65), Tyree Chaney (28:47.12) and Sadie Umphrey (28:47.65).
A pair of Patriots boys finished in the top 25 – Justin Smith in 15th at 20:58.31
and Jarrin Vaughn in 24th at 21:54.36.
