Titus Jones scored a team-high 19 points and Brady Carden (pictured above) finished with a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds as Westbrook Christian opened its season with a 57-53 victory over Sardis on Thursday, Nov. 14 in Sardis City. Wil Chadwick added nine points for the Warriors, while Gavin Slocum chipped in seven points and three rebounds and Bo Kilgo contributed six assists and four rebounds.
Cayden Reason finished with a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds as Southside opened its season with a 53-48 win over Gaston on Thursday, Nov. 14. Drew Clark added 13 points and five rebounds for the Panthers, while Mason Stephens chipped in eight points and six boards.
Girls
Sardis improved to 3-0 with a 69-34 victory over Westbrook Christian on Thursday, Nov. 14 in Sardis City. The Lady Lions led 20-3 after one period, 37-15 at halftime and 57-27 after three quarters. For Sardis, Jordyn Knight scored 15 points, followed by Mollie Brock scored with 11 and Vada Willmore and Lynlee Wright with 10 each. Knight also had eight rebounds.
On Nov. 7, Westbrook defeated Faith Christian, 61-24, in Rainbow City. Raylee Neal paced the Lady Warriors with 17 points, followed by Avery Snead with 15 and Addi Hammontree with 10. Kylee Wyatt distributed five assists, while Ellison Stewart came up with five steals.
On Nov. 9, Westbrook beat Meek, 50-43. Jordan Brooks scored 14 points, while Neal added 11 and Hammontree chipped in 10.
On Nov. 11, the Lady Warriors fell to Sylvania, 66-40. Brooks scored 17 points, while Wyatt finished with 13. Caroline Taylor grabbed eight rebounds.
Vada Willmore scored 11 of her 13 points in the third quarter to help Sardis post a 69-52 victory over Sylvania on Tuesday. Nov. 12. The Lady Lions trailed 17-15 after one period before leading 29-23 at halftime and 53-27 after three quarters. Also for Sardis, Delaney Lee scored 13 points,
Mollie Brock finished with 11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and Jordyn Knight added 10 points.
Zoey Mayo scored a team-high 12 points and Kennedi Nix added nine in West End’s 41-29 victory over Crossville on Tuesday. Nov. 12.
