Girls basketball
Nine players scored for Sardis in the Lady Lions’ 61-16 Victory over Gaston last Wednesday (Jan. 19) in the Etowah County Schools Tournament semifinals. Jayda Lacks paced Sardis with 12 points, followed by Kay-len Wallace with 10, Bella Trammell and Kytha Ed-wards with nine each and Caroline Johnson with seven. Traci Jones scored 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Boys basketball
Sardis led from opening tip to final buzzer in an 80-62 victory over Glencoe in the Etowah County Schools Tournament last Wednesday (Jan. 19) at Gaston. The Lions (13-9, 1-4) led 22-9 after one period, 41-25 at halftime and 57-42 after three quarters. Luke Martin paced Sardis with 25 points, followed by Eli Morton with 19 and Ka-son Moore with 15. Wade Segrest, Andrew Greene and Levi Long all scored 10 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Westbrook Christian lost to Class 2A Area 12 rival Spring Garden, 71-56, last Tuesday (Jan. 18) in Rainbow City. For the Warriors (14-9, 3-3), Evans Sizemore finished with 14 points, eight re-bounds and six blocks, Eli Edge contributed 14 points and six rebounds; Cameron White scored 11 points; and Hugh Windle chipped in nine points and four assists.

Harrison Millander shot 77 percent from the field and 86 percent from the free throw line in Hokes Bluff’s 37-20 victory over Collinsville on Jan. 17. Millander paced the Eagles with 28 points, followed by Jordan Presley with 18. Kyle Patterson grabbed five rebounds.

Hugh Windle made 19 of 20 free throws to help Westbrook Christian post an 83-71 win over Geraldine last Saturday (Jan. 15). Windle finished with 35 points for the Warriors, along with seven re-bounds and five assists. Brodie Self contributed 17 points and nine rebounds, while Evans Sizemore collected 11 points and eight boards. Steven Barnes and Asher Keck each scored nine points.

Sardis fell to Boaz, 72-57, in Class 5A Area 13 action on January 14. Eli Morton paced the Lions with 22 points, followed by Luke Martin with 14.

Evans Sizemore finished with 24 points and 20 rebounds in West-brook Christian’s 92-14 Class 2A, Area 12 win over Gaston on January 13. Hugh Windle added 16 points and six assists for the Warriors (13-8, 3-2), while Asher Keck contri-buted 14 points and five rebounds. Cooper Greer, Steven Barnes and Brodie Self chipped points each, followed by Cameron White with seven and Eli Edge with six. Greer also had four steals.

Men’s basketball

Gadsden State lost to Coastal Alabama South, 91-85, in Alabama Community College Conference action last Monday (Jan. 17). Kintavious Dozier scored 24 points for the Cardinals (6-9, 2-5), followed by Justin Minter (pictured at left) with 16 and Corien Frazier with 15. DeAngelo Foster chipped in eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks.

Kintavious Dozier scored 28 points to lead Gadsden State to an 89-72 win over Marion Military on January 13. Parker Godwin added 17 points and five rebounds for the Cardinals, while Corien Frazier finished with 15 points and eight boards. Justin Minter contributed eight points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Women’s basketball

The Gadsden State women fell to Costal Alabama South, 65-58, last Monday (Jan. 17). Dee Guinn paced the Lady Cardinals (7-8, 4-2) with 14 points
