Physicians Who Care will sponsor our 24th Annual 5K/1Mile Walk on April 18. All money raised will go to the Etowah County Cancer Foundation.

Physicians Who Care was established in 1988 and continues to offer Community Education, Physician Referral Services, and Special Projects throughout the year. It was founded by Seth Spotnitz, MD who is Chairman of the 5K Run/Walk.

The Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to support local cancer patients with immediate needs and to assist patients who live-in, or receive cancer treatment in Etowah County. All money collected from this run is designated for the patients and their families. No one receives compensation for time and effort in this organization.

This event would not be possible without the support of Medical Sponsors, including Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Riverview Regional Medical Center and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

There will be T-shirts, trophies, prize money and refreshments. The prize money for the top three male and female runners will be: First Place $300, 2nd Place $200, 3rd Place $100. Trophies will be awarded to the first three males and females in each age division.

Pre-registration will be prior to April 14. Race day registration will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., at The Gadsden and Etowah County Chamber Building at One Commerce Square in Gadsden.

There will be running tags available for you to wear honoring cancer survivors, and in-memory-of those who lost their battle with cancer. Also, we will have balloons for sale ($5) to be released in-honor-of, or In-memory-of. The balloon sales will go directly to the support of our local Cancer Foundation.

After the Run/Walk, there will be free refreshments for all who participate.

The Physicians Who Care office is open Monday thru Thursday 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please call 256-547-3124.
