Westbrook Christian fell to 1-1, 0-1 on the season with a 35-14 loss to Class 2A, Region 7 rival Fyffe on Friday (Sept. 7). 

Randy Blackwell’s 11-yard touchdown and Levi Bates 31-yard score put No. 6 Fyffe up 12-0 in the early going.

Westbrook responded with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Ford to Darryl Whatley to cut the lead to 12-7.

Cameron Gipson’s 30-yard scoring pass to Kanaan Coppock along with a 2-point conversion extended the Red Devil lead to 20-7. 

The Warriors cut the lead to 20-14 on a 40-yard pas from Ford to DeVernon Marshall.

Fyffe closed out the game with touchdown runs of three and 88 yards from Austin Stiefel. 

Westbrook resumes region play next week at home against Ider.
