No. 10-ranked Fort Payne erupted for 28-unanswered points in the second quarter and cruised to a 35-18 victory over visiting Etowah in the Class 5A, Region 7 opener for both squads Friday.

Sardis set a school single-game scoring record in a 68-48 win over Locust Fork last Friday in the Loins’ Class 4A, Region 6 opener.

Sand Rock junior quarterback Dylan Mackey only completed three passes all night long last Friday against Class 2A, Region 7 foe Gaston, but those three passes were all daggers in the Bulldogs’ hearts.

 Coosa Christian fell to Class 1A, Region 7 opponent Donoho on Friday (Sept. 7) in Gadsden.

Austin Mills threw for one touchdown and ran for another for the Conquerors (0-2, 0-1).

Jacksonville grounds Eagles

 Hokes Bluff dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 30-7 loss to Class 4A, Region 5 foe Jacksonville on Friday (Sept. 7). 

The Eagles’ lone score came on Brad Robertson’s touchdown pass to Jacob Ingram. 

Hokes Bluff hosts Alexandria on Friday in region action.
