Riverview Regional to serve as Scale Back Alabama site

Scale Back Alabama, which saw nearly 27,000 Alabamians lose a combined 129,528 pounds in 2013, is gearing up for its eighth year. For those persons planning to participate, Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden is the official weigh-in location for Etowah County.

Scale Back weigh-in hours at Riverview are Jan. 20, through Jan. 24. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday weigh-in times are 6 a.m. – 8 a.m., then again from 12 – 2 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday weigh-in times are 5 – 7 p.m. There is no cost to participate.

More than $12,000 in prizes will be given out to this year’s participants. If every team member sheds at least 10 pounds during the 10-week contest, the team is entered into a random drawing for the $4,000 grand prize. The second and third teams drawn win $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. Individuals are eligible for one of 50 individual prizes of $100. Team and individual prizes will be announced April 25.

Participants must sign up as four-member teams, must be 18 years of age and must register and weigh in at an official Weigh-In Site during the Weigh-In Week of Jan. 20-24, 2014.
