Sardis, West End, Glencoe, Ashville come up short

Sardis fell to Boaz, 35-14, in Class 5A Region 8 action on Friday, Oct. 4 in Sardis City.
The Lions (1-6, 0-4) got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter, driving 80 yards using nine plays with quarterback Brian Chapman (pictured above) scoring on an 18-yard run. Chapman had 44 yards rushing on the drive, which cut the Pirate lead to 28-7.
After a scoreless third quarter, Sardis drove 44 yards in 11 plays and Chapman scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run with 7:20 left. Nick Bello’s point-after cut the lead to 28-14.
Chapman rushed for 111 yards on 22 carries, while Levi Martin had 103 yards rushing on 13 carries. Chapman completed 17 of 26 passes for 90 yards.
Martin Payne had an interception for Sardis.
Sardis travels to region rival Douglas on Friday, Oct. 11.

West End lost to Cold Springs, 26-12, in a Class 2A, Region 6 game on Friday, Oct. 4 in Walnut Grove.
For the Patriots (0-7, 0-4), Jaxon Hamby threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Mayo and Dalton Fulmer ran for a 10-yard touchdown.
Hamby was 14-for-24 in passing for 210 yards, while Mayo (pictured above) had 11 receptions for 198 yards. Fulmer paced the West End ground game with 24 yards on six attempts.
The Patriots travel to Ider on Friday, Oct. 11 in non-region action.

Glencoe came up short against Weaver, 42-20, in a Class 3A Region 6 game on Friday, Oct. 4. The Yellow Jackets continue region play on Friday, Oct. 11 at Saks in Anniston.

Ashville lost to Class 4A Region 6 rival White Plains, 24-20, on Friday, Oct. 4. The Bulldogs (1-5, 1-3) travel to Alexandria on Friday, Oct. 11 in a region matchup.
