Two state playoff teams clash in this game.

Southside High won the Class 5A, Region 7 title, while Moody finished in a tie for second in Region 6.

“It’s a great opportunity to play another playoff team and get that experience in a non-playoff game,” Southside coach Ron Daugherty said. “I’m excited about the playoffs but I’m also excited about the chance to see what Moody does, because they are in the playoffs.”

Daugherty noted the Blue Devils’ high-powered offense, saying it has scored less than 34 only twice.

Moody averaged 33.7 points per game this season.

“They’ve got the best offense we’ve seen,” Daugherty said. “They have very good skill people at every position and they’ve got the best quarterback we’ve seen.”

Last week against Brewer, Blake Devine scored four touchdowns – runs of 20, 45 and 40 and a punt return for 72 yards. He finished with 126 rushing yards on three carries.

The Panthers host Wenonah on Nov. 8 in the first round of the state playoffs.
