The eighteenth annual Gadsden High School “Gold Tiger Club”, was held at Convention Hall in Gadsden June 21 from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The Class of 1963 proudly presented this annual reunion featuring those who have been graduated from Gadsden High School more for 50 years or more. The Class of 1964 was honored on June 21 as they celebrated their 50th reunion.

It was the 18th anniversary of the Gold Tiger Club. The Class of 1946 started the club honoring the class of 1947. Graduates look forward to coming back each year and seeing old friends. They come from near and far.

The reunion committee was composed of graduates from the class of 1963, who celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. Committee leaders and members were:

Bob Sisson, chairman; David Hindsman, treasurer; Kathy Sisson, Faye McKinney Hindsman, Bobbie Ann Wrenn Griffith, Jack Riley, Paula Siniard Tally, Cherie Bellenger Cornelius, Janet Davis and Sherba Edwards Griffith, committee members; and Jane Roberts Skipper, music arrangements.

There were over 500 members in attendance. The balcony rails were covered in black with orange tulle and white lights around the auditorium. The tables were decorated with orange roses. Miscellaneous memorabilia was placed on tables around the back walls. Gadsden High yearbooks from every year were also displayed and scrapbooks from the first Gold Tiger Club meeting until the last one honoring the class of 1963.

The first hour was spent renewing old acquaintances and greeting former classmates. Graduates from the classes of 1932 to 1964 were in attendance.

Bob Sisson called the meeting to order and welcomed the group. The Class of 1964 was asked to stand so they could be recognized as the newest members of the Gold Tiger Club.

The invocation and Pledge of Allegiance was given by Jack Riley and was followed by Mike Keracher, class of 1964.  Gary Smith led the group in singing the Alma Mater as he played the trumpet.

For the 18th time David Ayers and his crew from Tony’s Café served another delicious buffet. After dinner, came music and dance time, where the group was entertained by Johnny Owens, D.J.

This was also a time that classmates could visit other tables and renew old friendships. It was a wonderful evening.

The 19th annual “Gold Tiger Club” reunion will be held on the Saturday, June 20, 2015. It will honor the class of 1965.

The Gold Tiger Advisory Board members are:

Jerry Heard, chairman; Carl Harrison, vice-chairman; Anne McNabb, secretary; and Jean Estes, Marie Rich and Elene Chastain, class of 1946 charter members.
