Most of us are taught at an early age that’s life’s not perfect, but there are exceptions from time to time.
Gadsden City High School sophomore Jonathan Kilgo rolled the first perfect game in both his career and Alabama High School Athletic Association State Bowling Championships history on Thursday (Jan. 28) at Oak Mountain Lanes in Pelham.
“It was awesome to be the first to bowl a perfect game in the AHSAA state tournament,” he said. “I was scared and got nervous as I got closer to the final frame, but it was an amazing experience.”
Kilgo, whose previous high score was 223, came into the tournament with a 130 average. Kilgo did not compete in the first two rounds of the traditional bowling first round. His perfect round, 12 strikes in a row, came in Thursday’s final round and helped the Titans shoot an 868 third-round team total to finish the day at 2,406, good for 13th seed heading into the final day’s competition on Friday, where Gadsden City fell to Huntsville, 1,628 to 1,597.
