Two teams looking for playoff exposure tangle in this week’s game in Rainbow City.

With one region loss each, the winner of this game will be in a good position. Westbrook and Wellborn are tied with for second in Class 3A, Region 6 behind Glencoe.

“Whoever wins will have a leg up in the playoff race, for sure,” Westbrook coach Tony Osborne said. “It’ll be a definite boost.”

The loser won’t be out of the playoff race but will have a tougher row to hoe than the winner.

“That’s the good thing about football,” Osborne said. “Each week is a new week and you can start over.”

Wellborn runs the Wing-T and depends on speed.

“They’ve got a couple of big kids but speed is their thing,” Osborne said. “If they get a little crease, they’ve got the kids that can turn a short run into a long gain.”

As for Westbrook, health is no longer much of an issue.

“We’re pretty healthy, especially for this time of the season,” Osborne said. “We’ve got some bumps and bruises but that’s to be expected.”
