The Westbrook Christian girls soccer team advanced to the state Final Four tournament for the second straight year after a 2-0 victory over Jacksonville in the Class 4A quarterfinals last Saturday (May 6) at Jacksonville State. Aislyn Godfrey’s score off a rebound by Ella Keene in the eighth minute held up as the winning score. The Lady Warriors added some insurance later in the match when Ashton Zemo scored off a corner kick by Godfrey.
Westbrook (16-4-1) will face Westminster Christian in the state semifinals this Friday (May 12) at 1 p.m. at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. If the Lady Warriors win, they will play the winner of the American Christian/St. John Paul II Catholic semifinal winner in the state championship game on Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m.
The Westbrook Christian boys defeated White Plains, 2-1 in the Class 4A quarterfinals on May 5 in Anniston. The Warriors (11-9-3) play Westminster Christian in the state semifinals this Friday (May 12) at 3 p.m. at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. If it wins, Westbrook will face the winner of the Oneonta/Bayside Academy semifinal on Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m.
