Westbrook golfers sweep the field at Gadsden Area Tournament

Westbrook Christian took first place in both the girls and boys’ division at the Gadsden Area Golf Tournament at Twin Bridges on Monday (Apr. 10) and Silver Lakes on Tuesday (Apr. 11).
Led by Hope Cone’s low-medalist score of 150, the Lady Warriors shot 483 overall to claim the girls title. Ellie Poster finished close behind Cone with a 158 score, followed by Sidney Fairchild with 175 and Glencoe’s Lauren Cole at 176. Westbrook’s Gracie Guyton shot 188.
The Westbrook boys finished with a team score of 604. Low medalist Will Weathington paced the Warriors with a 140 score, while Hilliard Catanzaro finished a stroke back with 139. Jackson Bowman followed with 162 and J.P Pirani and Jared Paterson both shot 167.
“The great thing was that since both teams had such big leads, they were pushing themselves to better their own scores,” said Westbrook golf coach Misty Fairchild. “That’s just proof of their drive and their will to do whatever it takes to win. They want to improve every time that they’re out there. It makes my job as a coach a lot easier. Our pairings were great and the weather was perfect. It was just a great two days of golf.”
Gadsden City finished second in girls action at 613, followed by Etowah at 675, Southside at 695, Hokes Bluff at 696 and Sardis at 758.
Etowah was the boys runner-up with 643 score, followed by Southside with 652, Gadsden City with 686, Glencoe with 710, Hokes Bluff with 713 and West End with 773.
In girls scoring, Ella Howard shot a 200 score for the Lady Titans, followed by Alana Mulkey with 206, Haley James with 208 and Audria Wood with 209. For the Lady Blue Devils, Miranda Nassif shot a 205 score, followed by Kaina Griffith with 233 and Carly Campbell with 237.For the Lady Panthers, Makenzie Reavis shot a 211 score, followed by Jordan Reavis with 217 and Haley Gray with 267. For the Lady Eagles, Amber Bigelow shot a 222 score, followed by Mazin Lowe with 232 and Abagail Reeves with 242. For the Lady Lions, Zena Rhoden shot a 230 score, followed by Ivy Roberts and Korigan Wills each at 264. In individual play, Glencoe’s Camryn Blackwell finished with a 274 score.
In boys scoring, Tee Brown finished third individually with a 147 score. Eli Antisdale and Gage Ledbetter both shot a 162 score for the Blue Devils, followed by Alex Argo and Alex Edge with 173 each. For the Panthers, Hayden Lee shot a 77 score, followed by Brock Lawley with 84, Luke Boyd with 85, Andrew Oldman with 87 and Devon Downs with 91. For the Titans, Gavin Deck shot a 77 score, followed by Carter Cooper with 86, Barnes Stacy with 87 and Staley Dawson and Ben Koury with 91 each. For Yellow Jackets, Ethan Womack shot a 158 score, followed by Brock McNeely with 159, Blake Maxwell with 183 and Garrett Fairley with 210.
For the eagles, Josh Jones shot a 168 score, followed by Cole Contris with 166, Jeremy Black and Matthew Jones with 90 each and Kason Moore with 103. For the Patriots, Payne Stancil shot a 164 score, followed by Hunter Blanton with 190, Phillip Wall with 203, Brennen Fleming with 216 and Hunter Tucker with 234.
In individual competition for Sardis, Kaleb Morgan shot a 97 score, followed by Clay Cole with 219 and Daniel Rich with 225.
