Gadsden City used a 42-point second quarter to take command and beat Class 7A, Region 4 rival Grissom, 60-19, on Thursday (Sept. 15) in Huntsville.
The Titans improved to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the region, while Grissom dropped to 0-5 and 0-3.
“I thought we played a much cleaner game tonight as far as fewer mistakes,” said GCHS head coach Matt Scott.
Gadsden City quarterback Ryan Sparks threw four touchdown passes, including a pair to Jaelyn Fleming for 53 and 56 yards, respectively.
Jaylen Cole (50 yards) and Ray Mostella (17 yards) each had one touchdown catch, while Damon Williams (three yards), Jamontez Woods (10 yards) and Justin Price (10 yards) all rushed for one score. Jabraun McNeal returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown.
Gadsden City hosts Class 6A No. 8 Park Crossing of Montgomery on Sept. 23.
