Two Etowah students receive Alfa scholarship

Two Etowah County residents were among 50 recipients of the 2014 Alfa Foundation scholarship. Each recipient received $1,000 in the program’s inaugural year.

The scholarship recipients are Colin Edwards of Rainbow City, a graduate of Westbrook Christian School and freshman at Troy University studying education; and Tiffany Stevens of Boaz, a graduate of West End High School and junior at Athens

On September 28, Attalla native Tashara Childs will host a book signing for her first novel, Knocking on the Devil’s Door, at Flip Side Café in Gadsden from 3-5 p.m.

The book, which ranked No. 25 on the African-American Christian Fiction Kindle Chart, was published a year ago.
