Panthers pound Brewer

Southside finihsed with more than 400 yards on the ground on the way to a 35-7 win over Class 6A, Region 7 rival Brewer on Friday in Somerville.

The Panthers (3-2, 2-) took a 14-0 lead when Holt Keeling scored with 3:59 in the first quarter and at the 8:45 mark of in the second period.

Gaston scored three first-quarter touchdowns against Class 1A, No. 10 Spring Garden on Friday, taking a 40-13 victory over the previously unbeaten Panthers.

Jordan Douglas accounted for two of the three first-quarter scores for the visiting Bulldogs (2-2, 101), scoring on runs of 35 and 45 yards. Gaston also had a 21-yard touchdown run

Grizzard’s eight TD’s sparks Conquerors to first win of season

Coosa Christian rode the stellar play of Johnny Grizzard to notch its first win of the season on Friday at Woodville. 

The senior quarterback scored seven touchdowns as the Conquerors defeated the Panthers, 60-28 in Class 1A, Region 7 action.

Grizzard completed 15 of 23 passes for 364 yards and six touchdowns, rushed eight times

West End rally falls short at Section

Section scored three first-quarter touchdowns en route to a 33-21 Class 2A, Region 7 victory over visiting West End on Friday.
