Southside finihsed with more than 400 yards on the ground on the way to a 35-7 win over Class 6A, Region 7 rival Brewer on Friday in Somerville.
The Panthers (3-2, 2-) took a 14-0 lead when Holt Keeling scored with 3:59 in the first quarter and at the 8:45 mark of in the second period.
Brewer’s Brenson DeBerry responded just over a minute after Keeling’s second score with a 60-yard touchdown run to draw within 14-7, but it was all Southside the second half.
Aleric Williams scored a 70-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter. The Panthers followed that up with a scoring run by Colton Helms to extend the lead to 28-7.
Keeling added a 38-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to closed out the scoring. Keeling had 13 carries for 188 yards and three touchdowns, while Williams had 10 carries for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Baylon Fry added six rushes for 64 yards.
The Panthers (3-2, 2-0) host St. Clair County next week in a non-region game.
