The 1877 Tallman map of Etowah County

  Several years ago, Etowah County Tax Assessor Jerry Jones was given an original copy of Etowah’s County first map, the 1877 Tallman’s Map. Earnest Lee, an early surveyor, gave this map to Jerry. Earnest received this map from his father, Fitzhuh Lee (born1866, died1946). Fitzhuh was the Etowah County Surveyor many years ago.

GRMC to host annual Go Red event

For the 11th year, Gadsden Regional Medical Center will host its annual Go Red event. It will take place at Gadsden Convention Hall on February 10 at 6 p.m. The event raises awareness about heart health, as well as money for the American Heart Association.

Fox 6 news anchor, Janice Rogers will be hosting the event.

Downtown Gadsden to host sweet and spicy weekend

On Friday, February 6, the merchants of Downtown Gadsden will be hosting a Chocolate Stroll.  Since it’s the week before Valentine’s Day, stores are going to stay open until 7 p.m. and will be offering special sales and serving chocolate delights.

Dinosaurs coming to Gadsden

There’s something big  coming to historic downtown Gadsden this February or should we say pre-historic downtown Gadsden? The Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts is pleased to announce Dinosaurs Alive! opening February 8.

Everyone is invited to attend the grand opening reception on February 8 at 1 p.m.  There will be pre-historic punch and triceratops treats as well

GRMC honors employees of the year

Gadsden Regional honored three of its own recently by naming a trio of employees as Employee of the Year and Clinical and Non-Clinical Managers of the Year.

The Imaging Department’s Tommy Batson was named Employee of the Year. Batson, who is the hospital’s PACS administrator, was named Employee of the Month in October 2013. 

His nomination for Employee of
