Ford introduces chaplaincy bill

An Alabama lawmaker is introducing a bill to ensure that chaplaincy programs remain a part of state universities.

Rep. Craig Ford, D-Gadsden, introduced the Rev. Chette Williams bill on Sept. 10.

New DA Willoughby speaks at Gadsden Civitan Club

About 20 people attended the Gadsden Civitan Club’s meeting last Wednesday, September 2 at Gadsden State Community College. After attending to club business, Jody Willoughby, Etowah County’s new District Attorney addressed the crowd.

Willoughby used the opportunity to let the club member’s know more about him, and what he hopes to accomplish in his new position.

Gadsden DDC to host Tutu 2K fundraiser

The Downtown Dance Conservatory is holding the second annual Tutu 2K on Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. on Broad Street in downtown Gadsden.

The run will benefit the dance conservatory’s programs and students. The Downtown Dance Conservatory teaches more than 300 students weekly. Students take part in charity events, history projects and other outreach programs.
