Local sports hall of fame to induct Class of 2016

The Etowah County Sports Hall of Fame 2016 Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, Apr. 9 at 6 p.m. at Convention Hall in Gadsden. A meet-and-greet session begins at 5 p.m.

Lady Panthers win Gulf Shores Tournament

The Southside High varsity softball team won the 32-team Gulf Shores Classic III last week in Gulf Shores.
The Class 6A No. Lady Panthers (22-4) defeated Daphne, 3-1, in the championship game on Mar.31.
In pool play, Southside beat Class 7A No. 3 Hoover, 3-0; Baldwin County, 11-1; Class 3A No. 8 Pleasant Valley, 4-2; and Portland (Tenn.), 7-0.

Last week recordings surfaced of Governor Robert Bentley talking in a sexual manner to his top political advisor Rebekah Mason on the telephone. The recordings, leaked on www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2016/03/hear_recording_that_helped_put.html, allow listeners to hear only Bentley’s side of the conversation. Even one-sided Bentley’s comments are obviously sexual in nature with inappropriate remarks.
