Local sports hall of fame to induct Class of 2016

The Etowah County Sports Hall of Fame 2016 Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, Apr. 9 at 6 p.m. at Convention Hall in Gadsden. A meet-and-greet session begins at 5 p.m. 

The Class of 2016 includes Gadsden High graduate Danny Carlisle, Emma Sansom High graduate Gene Jelks, Southside High graduate Jerry Jones and Hokes Bluff High graduate Mike Robertson. 

The annual Hall of Fame scholarships will be presented at the event. All area high schools submitted nominees based upon athletic ability, academic standing and community service. One male and one female winner will be selected.

The event will be catered by Tony’s BBQ. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at River Bank & Trust in downtown Gadsden, Hokes Bluff High School, Jerry’s Pharmacy in Alabama City, Clokey Realty in Rainbow City or by calling 256-442-5566 or 256-312-5566.
