Attalla is hosting several Christmas events this holiday season.

The city has many local businesses participating in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28.

The city is also hosting a Christmas tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 4. The event begins at 5 p.m. and the tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. The Christmas Tree is sponsored by Kelly’s Auto Auction. Free hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be served as long as supplies last. Live music will be played throughout the evening with several different groups performing. There will be many free activities for the family, including face painting, horse and carriage rides, pictures with Santa, a photo booth and ornament making. “Frozen” characters will be visiting with the children. There will even be a cake walk!

“Our Christmas Tree lighting was attend by over 300 people last year which was a large increase from past years,” said Debby Carden, director of Business and Economic Development in Attalla. “We love to see families come and enjoy an evening and celebrate the Christmas holiday.”

The Attalla Christmas Parade will be held Thursday, Dec. 10.

“Our Christmas Parade doubled in size last year,” said Carden. “The City of Attalla wants to bring that feeling of excitement we had as children when we went to the Christmas Parade of our younger years.”

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Applications to participate in the parade will be accepted until Dec. 7. There is no entry fee. If interested, contact Debby Carden at 256-538-1872.

“We extend an invitation to all schools, businesses, clubs, and churches to participate,” said Carden.
