Sardis ended a three-game losing streak with a 26-0 shutout over Geraldine last Friday (Sept. 9) at SHS. The win ended a two-year losing streak to the Bulldogs.
The Lions (1-3, 0-2) scored on their first play from scrimmage.
After the Lions took over at their own 26-yard line, quarterback Logan Gaskin took the ball on a sweep around the right end and pitched the ball to Jake Ross on a reverse. Ross cleared the end of the line and warded off a tackler before racing 74-yards to the end zone.
The PAT failed, but Sardis led 6-0 just 30 seconds into the game.
After Geraldine went three-and-out on its first possession, Sardis took over at the Bulldog 45. Chase Bright hauled in a 14-yard reception from Gaskin, and three plays later, Gaskin muscled the ball into the end zone from the 1-yard line.
The Lions attempted a 2-point conversion, but Geraldine’s Thomas Willoughby got a hand on the pass and tipped it over the head of Carson Glass. Sardis took a 12-0 lead with 7:02 in the first half.
The Lions then mounted a 70-yard scoring drive to close out the first half.
Joshua Maynard and Drew Vaughan each had two receptions during the series, which ended when Gaskin scored on a quarterback draw on a fourth-goal from five yards out.
Mason Golden hauled in a pass on the two-point conversion to give Sardis a 20-0 lead at halftime.
The game’s final score came in the final 30 seconds when Jesus Hernandez blocked a Geraldine punt and Luke Nelson scooped it up and raced 30 yards to the end zone.
Gaskin was 8-for-16 passing for 88 yards. Drew Vaughan had 10 rushes for 65 yards, while Maynard had three receptions for 37 yards.

Sardis travels to region rival North Jackson this Thursday (Sept. 15).
