Etowah High won its eighth straight game while remaining undefeated in Class 5A, Region 7 play with a 56-21 victory over Crossville last Friday (Oct. 14) in Attalla.

The Blue Devils (8-1, 6-0) ran out to a 35-0 lead before entering halftime ahead 49-0.

Etowah quarterback Daulton Hyatt tossed three touchdown passes, all in the first quarter. After Caleb Horton opened the scoring on a 72-yard touchdown run, Hyatt threw scoring passes to Andy Noles (15 yards), Emil Smith (33 yards) and Brailen Ball (59 yards) to help put the hosts ahead 28-0 after 12 minutes.

The Blue Devils made it 35-0 on Tyrell Boley’s 17-yard TD run before the Lions (3-5, 2-4) got on the scoreboard with Jacob Driskill’s 36-yard touchdown pass to Banks Jolley midway through the second period.

Cory Thomas scored twice before the half, one on an 8-yard run and another on a 17-yard scamper, to send Etowah into halftime with a 49-point lead.

Crossville drew within 49-14 in the third quarter by way of Ganon Porter’s 28-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Driskill, while Dalton Peek’s 34-yard fumble return for a touchdown a few minutes later closed the gap to 29 points.

The visitors got no closer, however, as JaKori Stell’s fourth-quarter touchdown run effectively sealed the Etowah win.

For Etowah, Hyatt was a perfect 3 for 3 for 107 yards and three scores. Horton rushed for 120 yards on three carries, while Tubais Hawkins ran four times for 102 yards.
