Gadsden State athletes earn academic honors

Several Gadsden State student-athletes recently were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s 2019 Academic Awards with the qualifying grade-point average for each honor.

Named to the first team with a 4.0 GPA were Alexis Rich (pictured above), Grace Nolen and Landry Bussey from women’s volleyball; Sloan Gartman and Stephen Walker from men’s tennis; and Morgan Blalock from women’s basketball.
Making the second team with a 3.80 to 3.99 GPA were Madelyn Massey from women’s volleyball and Landon Johnson from men’s basketball.
Selected to the third team with a 3.60 to 3.79 GPA were Taylor Hackett and Taylor Spradley from women’s volleyball, Alex Ivey from men’s tennis and Luke Graham from men’s basketball.
In addition, the Gadsden State women’s volleyball team (3.44 GPA) and men’s tennis team (3.23 GPA) were recognized as 2018-2019 NJCAA All-Academic Teams.
