Through four Class 4A, Region 5 games, Sardis is undefeated and tied for first place with Oneonta. With that said, the Lions now face the meat of their schedule.

St. Clair County has one region loss and is tied with Fairview for second.

Who are Sardis’ three remaining region foes? Just St. Clair County, Fairview and Oneonta.

In other words, the Lions can still win the region crown and they can still be knocked out of the playoffs, even though the latter scenario is highly unlikely.

Either way, one more victory locks up a postseason berth for the Sand Mountain squad.

The good news is that both Fairview and Oneonta must visit Sardis.

To try and compare the Lions and St. Clair County by statistics, Sardis is having a highly efficient offensive season, having already scored 261 points for an average of 43.5 points per game.

The Lion defense has allowed a lot of points in 179, an average of 29.8 per game.

The Saints, meanwhile, are almost even on offensive and defensive numbers.

The offense has put up 155 points and the defense has allowed 150. Those averages are around 25 points per game.

Even with three losses, the Saints are still sitting pretty because two of the losses were to non-region foes in Moody and Cleburne County.

Last week against Guntersville, Toby Pee rushed for 155 yards five touchdowns on 25 carries. Braun Pee added 71 yards on 11 rushes and a score.

Will Scott completed 5-of-8 passes for 38 yards.

Braun Pee had 15 tackles, followed Zack Childers with 13, Brett Rains with 12, Bryan Noblitt with 10 and Toby Pee, Jesse Hubbard and Logan Hilbrandt with nine.
