City of Gadsden to distribute PPE packages

Student volunteers from the Southside High School Key Club assemble Personal Protective Equipment packages at Gadsden's City Hall on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.

The City of Gadsden will have 1,000 packages of personal protective equipment available for seniors and low-income families on Friday, January 29.
The packages will be distributed from 1 – 4 p.m. while supplies last, at The Venue at Coosa Landing, located at 201 George Wallace Drive, and the Alabama City Center, located at 2000 West Meighan Boulevard. The packages include face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting spray and disinfecting wipes.
Money for the effort comes from the Community Development Block Grant program’s COVID-19 relief funds.
Nick Hall, Director of Planning for the City of Gadsden, said that while federal funding made it possible to purchase the supplies, the kits were put together by local student volunteers.
“We want to thank Daniel Cody and the rest of the Key Club at Southside High School for their help in assembling these kits,” he said. “We appreciate their willingness to volunteer.”
Around 200 kits will be sent to Elliott Community Center for distribution to those served by the nutrition program.
